Have you ever taken the time to consider your life today and
compare it with the expectations you had five years ago?
Nine times out of ten you will find that things did not
quite work out the way you anticipated them to. Although you
may not be dissatisfied with where you are today, you will
probably still have to admit that several crucial issues
have taken a surprising course: your marriage may have
ended, your career may have undergone a radical change,
people whom you had expected to be around for a long time
may have passed away, and you may have turned into an
individual you would not have recognized five years ago!
It all lies in the hands of time and the encounters you have
with people, knowledge, and general experiences. Indeed: you
find your perspectives changing through the things that
happen to you: what used to be important at one time may
have no meaning anymore for you today. And this will
probably not only pertain to the people in your life, but to
events and goals as well. Paradigms shift continuously, and
the best way to cope with this process is to try and refrain
from setting goals that are too specific. You could, for
instance, just focus on making progress or being happy
instead of formulating in too much details where, with whom,
and how that should happen. Of course some strategizing is
necessary, but too strict a schedule may entangle you in a
web that is hard to escape from when the inevitable
surprises start popping up.
A man who expected his family to stay together till his
dying day suddenly found that his wife was leaving him. She
took the children along, and he turned into a lonely goat.
It took him three years and countless, extensive dialogues
with elders in his community to understand that the courses
of events in his life were not merely up to him, since they
were intertwined with other individuals who all had their
own desires and dreams, some of which – unfortunately – were
no longer in tune with his. He finally understood the
message and learned to accept the facts as they were
presented to him. He has since established a level of
understanding with his ex-partner, one that is better than
it ever was during their marriage, and he has been working
toward a more mature relationship with his – now grown up –
children. Gradually this man is regaining his balance,
meanwhile understanding that happiness today looks much
different than he would have envisioned it some years ago.
This simple example does not have to be limited to the
private areas of one’s life: surprises can occur just as
frequently in any other area. Business people know that like
no other, due to the fact that they operate in an
environment that is subject to influences from practically
all sides: unexpected strategic moves from competitors,
inventions that can make their product obsolete in a
heartbeat, or government decisions that can affect their
profitability or perhaps their entire existence, to name a
few. For this category of people, flexibility in dealing
with surprises is even more vital than for the ones that
expect the happily-ever-after dream to keep their marriage
together.
Life truly requires a level of management that should never
be underestimated: whether you are spending most of your
time in an airplane, a hotel room, your office, or just at
home. The bag of surprises is presented to each of us, every
day again. Some surprises taste sweet, but most of them have
a bitter foretaste. It is up to us, then, to adapt our taste
buds to these new challenges, and unleash our positive
imagination and our sense of humor on them, so that we will
be able to develop the right spirit in approaching them. And
then, five years from now, we will be where we expect to be:
in a better and happier place, no matter where that is!

1. Be persistent with style. You can get a lot more done at
work when you have the tenacity to deal with difficult
people without losing your cool. Never give up.
2. Exude a magnetic charm that makes people want to help
you. In stores and restaurants staff will go out of their
way to serve the few customers who know how to make them
feel special. The same applies at home and at work.
3. Have the courage to ask for more. When you are working
hard without getting the rewards you deserve you need to
stand up and be noticed. Successful people know the power of
asking.
4. Laugh at rejection. When you no longer worry about people
saying no to you, everything changes. You can talk to any
individual in authority as an equal, and stand up for
yourself with confidence.
5. Talk with clarity. Do this and people will know exactly
what you want – and give it to you. No more beating around
the bush.
6. Drop the need for approval. When you let go of the need
to be liked you are more likely to get it. This is one of
the great ironies of life.
7. Start conversations with confidence. This is a crucial
skill that opens doors socially and in business. When you do
this well you can expect greater success.
8. Become a great listener. As a result you will spot subtle
cues that tell you the key points in any negotiation. This
is valuable information that can help you drive a great
bargain.
9. Never be intimidated by others. When all your
communication is grounded in solid strategies that work you
will have a pervasive inner confidence and strength. You
will come across as someone to be respected and listened to.
10. Quickly deal with people problems. You can develop great
flexibility when it comes to resolving disagreements and
differences of opinion. This will save you lots of time and
heart ache.
11. Stop feeling self-conscious. Get clear about what you
really want. When you focus on that in a special way, your
attention will be on the other person. It then becomes
impossible to freeze because of nerves.
12. Master small talk. This allows you to build rapport with
anyone you meet and even make people eager to help you.
Think of all the interesting and wonderful people you will
meet.
Exceptional people skills can be learned. Find a proven
formula and follow it. YOu will be amazed at how quickly you
will progress.

Do you dream of having a book published, but don’t know
where to turn? Already have a book, but unsure of how to
promote it? Looking for cost effective high-return
strategies to market your book? If you answered yes to any
of these questions, then the following information is for
you.
Many writers and aspiring authors are under the mistaken
belief if their book is published by a publishing house they
can sit back and watch sales miraculously happen. Nothing
could be further from the truth. Fact is, competition to
have your manuscript noticed and published by a large house
is extremely fierce. Additionally, no matter who publishes
your book, you absolutely must take an active roll in
marketing, promoting and selling your book.
Moreover, profit margins are not extremely good when you go
through a publisher. Sure, if you sell tens of thousands or
hundreds of thousands of books, you make substantial amounts
of money. In reality only a small percentage of writers
achieve this level of success.
A great model for achieving success is to self-publish and
actively promote your book. Self-publishing is one of the
best ways to get your manuscript to market quickly is to.
Another great benefit of self-publishing is you have
complete control of the creative process. You make the
decisions on content, editing, cover design, title and you
reap the profits.
A primary downside with self publishing are costs involved.
Depending on whether or not you hire an editor, designer,
layout person and cost of printing, the initial outlay for
self-publishing a book can be several thousands of dollars
for the first run. Besides there are no guarantees your book
will sell. However, you can lessen your risk of costs and
increase your level of sales with a simple formula.
Imagine if you could self publish with no out of pocket
money. Additionally, imagine gaining lots of free publicity
and visibility in your market at the same time. I know this
to be true, because I have done it.
The following formula is one that can be used by virtually
anyone to raise funds to publish a book. In addition, you
can gain great visibility, do the initial run with no out of
pocket money and position yourself for volume sales.
Although the formula is rather simple in concept, it is not
necessarily easy to do as it takes planning, time, effort,
consistency and great follow up to make it work as well as
possible.
You can write, publish and market a book with no out of
pocket expenses by hosting a seminar with a topic that is
linked to the book. In order to keep costs down in the
rollout host the seminar in your local market. You can
further offset costs by securing sponsors for the seminar.
Event sponsors provide funding necessary to the costs of an
event. They can either contribute in actual dollars or with
in-kind offerings. Sponsors underwrite various aspects of an
event.
I did this at the beginning of December with my most recent
book, “101 Ways to Get Your Foot in the Door” and had an
incredible response. Although there was a lot of work
involved in the rollout the results were, and continue to
be, incredible.
Besides writing content for the book each author had a very
specific role. Mine was the marketing and promotions of the
book. The first level was to develop a clear marketing
strategy for my 3 co-authors and myself.
Prior to beginning the writing of the book, we developed a
very detailed project plan. The plan included hosting an
event to introduce the book to our local market.
Knowing the costs to an event such as we were planning, I
knew it would be beneficial to secure sponsors. I developed
a very solid proposal for sponsorship of the seminar.
Because of very detailed information and showing the
sponsors how they would gain from being involved, I was able
to secure two excellent sponsors. One is a primary business
newspaper in Utah and the other is an organization who
targets start up businesses.
The paper was more than willing to do some advertising for
the event in exchange for some great visibility and
additional subscribers. The organization offset the costs of
the room and audio-visual equipment in exchange for mentions
in the advertising and all pre-event promotions. Both
sponsors were given the opportunity to do a 5 minute
presentation at the seminar and distribute promotional
information to everyone in attendance. It was a win/win all
the way around.
Had I not had a clear-cut proposal for the potential
sponsors chances are I would not have secured their support.
Also, I know it is easier to gain support from businesses
who know me rather than trying to get sponsorship from an
organization who has no idea who I am. The same will be true
for most anyone.
With day of event expenses covered, we could now focus on
generating revenue for publishing the book. This was done by
pre-selling the book. Anyone who purchased the book sight
unseen by November 28, 2004 was given a seat into the
seminar on December 2nd.
With initial revenues from pre-seminar sales designed to
offset book production costs we were able to write, market
and publish the book with no out of pocket money. By
utilizing the databases of all four authors, press releases,
pre-event radio interviews and presentations at Chambers and
local organizations, word of mouth promotions, and other
low-cost/no-cost forms of promotions, we sold over 350
copies sight unseen. (Cost of the book is $19.95)
We had well over 200 people attend the seminar as some of
the pre-event purchases were from folks who were out of the
area.
A key to our success was having a functional website were
the book was (and is) available.
www.101waystogetyourfootinthedoor.com We utilized online
credit card purchasing options for buyers. In that 80% of
our sales were done with Internet and credit cards, we would
have been remiss to not use this as a method to sell.
As we were pre-selling it was important to let people know
that the cost of a seat into the seminar was the book. Also,
if they didn’t make it to the seminar we would mail them the
book for $4 more or they could pick it up. The $4 covered
mailing costs. If we didn’t do this we would have cut way
into our profit margin.
We made a strong point of letting people know they were
buying the book, not the seat into the seminar. However, the
only way into the seminar was to buy the book.
To gain even more value from the event and increase day of
event revenues each author sold other products Back of the
Room (BOR). One author sold a sales training program. The
signups that day realized several thousand in additional
revenue for her.
The two other authors sold specialty items and set up
appointments for those who were interested in such things in
their sales campaigns.
I sold my Street Smarts Marketing and Promotions™ program as
an E-book. This helped me to generate several thousand in
additional revenue. Knowing audience members were already
interested in my material, I put together a special day of
event package with three of my e-products bundled together.
Everyone received one of my order forms upon registering.
At the end of my session I did a short sales presentation.
All folks had to do was fill out the order form. With each
sale, all I had to do was process their credit cards and
email them the PDF document. No mailing costs or printing
costs. Nearly a 100% profit margin.
Many self published authors shy away from doing
presentations claiming to be an author and not a speaker.
Fact is, if you get in front of a target audience who is
interested in your topic and you present your ideas well the
amount of books you can sell is incredible.
The book complimented by a well delivered presentation allow
you to get in front of meeting planners who may be in a
position to utilize your services and your book at a later
date. You may also have representatives from companies who
want to buy large quantities of your book.
Since the release of the book I have had some companies buy
“101 Ways to Get You’re your Foot in the Door” in large
quantities. Because Maxwell Publishing is my company and the
book was published through Maxwell, I have the flexibility
to do special runs. With a minimum purchase a client can add
their logo to the front cover of the book and a personalized
letter from whomever they choose included in the book. This
is a great marketing tool for them with long-term benefits
to their employees or customers.
Granted, myself and one of the other authors are
professional speakers so presenting at an event such as I
outlined is a part of our marketing model. However, two of
the authors are not professional speakers per say. Yet, in
their everyday business they do present frequently. However,
with this event, it was a different type of presentation for
them. They will be the first to admit that additional
exposure and sales were worth doing this type of
presentation.
Regardless of your topic the model we implemented can be
used by virtually anyone. For example, if you have a book on
nutrition, find a health food store who wants more foot
traffic and visibility. They may be a perfect fit as a
sponsor. Not only can they help you to offset costs they can
help to promote the event. At the seminar you can promote
their products with coupons, mentions and information
provided. It’s a win/win.
If you have a book on real estate sales there’s bound to be
a mortgage company who may be interested in sponsoring you.
Perhaps they would be willing to buy a book for every real
estate agent who does business with them. Or, they could
give a book to each of their mortgage brokers.
If you have a book on childhood development, what about a
baby clothing store? Perhaps the store would cross promote
and give a book to each customer who buys a minimum amount
of product in their store. This adds value from them to
their customers and creates a win/win for you and the store.
In today’s world of writing, marketing and publishing a
book, the possibilities are only limited by imagination.

Meditation can improve your health, increase energy levels
and maximize your enjoyment of life. Without a doubt, more
people would benefit from meditation if they took the time
to practice the simple exercises used to calm the mind,
reduce stress and increase energy levels.
So What Is Meditation?
======================
Meditation is a way to transform and heal ourselves. When we
meditate, we allow the swirl of ideas and thoughts to slow
down to the point where we find a calm and positive
connection with ourselves. Although there are many different
ways to meditate, all styles teach the directing of the
attention in order to re-connect with the part of yourself
that is most real and most true.
Why We Need To Meditate
=======================
Unfortunately, we do not walk through the world as children
do. We all face difficult and stressful situations
throughout the course of life. But rather than beginning
each day afresh, we tend to gather the world and carry the
negativity of the past with us. The happy and contented
person you were becomes covered over by these emotions.
Suddenly you feel unhappy and dissatisfied, and even worse;
often the process is so subtle, you don’t know why.
Meditation is a way of cutting through those layers of past
emotion and excessive thinking. Instead of our minds and
bodies being at the mercy of life, we take back control. We
focus the attention in a deliberate way, and slowly see the
false layers of ourselves begin to dissolve as we return
once again to the source of our happiness.
Although meditation is an ancient art dating back thousands
of years, modern scientific research now confirms what
ancient wisdom discovered long ago. Study after study shows
that meditation brings about improved perception, focus,
memory and creativity. Regular meditators are healthier,
happier, more relaxed, and more productive.
The True Purpose of Meditation
==============================
The seductive appeal of mystic visions, psychic intuition
and heightened mental functioning can be very alluring.
While some meditators report esoteric experiences, the
experiences themselves should not be the primary reason for
practice.
The purpose of meditation is to transform the state of our
hearts and minds and bring us back to ourselves. As we
become healthier, happier and realize greater self-
awareness, more benefits begin to follow naturally —
improved mental functioning, greater intuition as well as
greater access to unconscious resources and abilities.
The Best Style of Meditation
============================
Always keep an open mind in your learning. Never accept a
teaching without verifying the truth of it in your own
experience. On the other hand, reserve making judgment in
advance of having the experience for yourself.
The best style of meditation is the one that feels right for
you. There are many different systems of meditation
including, but not limited to Concentration, Mindfulness,
Zen, Visualization and Devotion. You may decide to
experiment with a few different styles and see how they
feel. Find one or two styles that you like and then major in
those. Above all, pay attention to your self and make sure
your meditation feels right for you.
Make Meditation A Daily Practice
================================
You can be stronger in your self. You can be happier, more
balanced and compassionate. You can manifest the changes you
truly want to see in your life through meditation. You don’t
need to give up all your worldly passions or retreat to a
Himalayan monastery either!
A daily ten-minute practice can make all the difference.
It’s not much time to dedicate when you consider all the
time spent caring for your physical appearance. After all,
you wouldn’t go out to an important meeting or social
occasion without clean clothes and brushing your teeth.
What about the mind and body — the instruments through
which we perceive and interact with reality? Does it not
make sense to take the time to clean up our attitude and the
way we feel as well?

Healing is a special gift that any human being can have. It
is fortunate that we are provided with the opportunity to
acknowledge and develop it. There is no difference from any
human being performing healing and Christ healing. The only
difference is if you belong to a large institution like a
Catholic church where healing is sometimes defined as a
miracle. Many great healers came into our plane and
performed their miracles, such as Edward Cayce, Harry
Edwards and many others known and unknown to us. The good
part of it is that we are all healers. The only difference
between a full pledged healer and any one of us is very
simple. A healer is a human being who has dedicated his or
her life in order to help humanity and to show us that we
are not alone, by becoming a channel for the spirit to do
their work. Many powers are beyond our sense of
understanding or belief system. If this is your path in this
lifetime then this will become part of your life because you
have already been chosen for that path.
My journey with healing started as early as 8 years old. At
least that is what I remember. Water always provided a big
boost for me and I was always surrounded by water. That was
my good luck! Sitting on the beach in Lebanon at age 8, I
noticed my mind start to wonder and I started seeing things
that I did not recall seeing before. I thought in the
beginning that I just had a vivid imagination. Then I
started seeing that I was laying my hand on people (healing)
without even being aware of it. To be honest at that age, it
did not mean much for a born Catholic to even discuss
something like this. For my own sake of understanding, I
recall saying to myself, everyone must be able to do the
same thing. So I never even bothered to speak about it to
anyone. That was maybe for my own good at the time.
At that early age, I learned the concept of absent healing
without knowing that that was what is was called. I was
performing on people, at a long distance from me, through
visions of healing. I was even doing it through talking with
people without being aware of what I was doing. My
clairvoyance at the time was in full swing. At that point I
was not calling it clairvoyance and thought everyone must do
it normally. I was right at the time without giving myself
any credit for it. Everyone can be a channel for healing and
have the right to be clairvoyant, clairaudient, or
experience any other array of gifts. We always forget one
important aspect of our human being, and that is that we are
spirits first.
If your soul did not decide to come here, on this plane, for
certain experiences and lessons that were needed for that
soul’s evolution toward its creator, then you yourself would
not exist today. Your soul is the reason for you being here
today. Your soul is NOT in you, but outside of you. The only
thing we have from our soul is what we refer to as the
spirit. That spirit is the personality; the experiences and
knowledge that we need to know in order to use these as
tools in this lifetime to conquer our own lessons and
experiences. We all have many tools in our hands but just
how many of us really use them? This is why we do not recall
previous experiences from other lifetimes, on a conscious
level, unless we go seeking these experiences though
meditation or other methods.
So my journey as a child continued anytime I would be
sitting next to the water without anyone knowing what was
going on. It was my past. I have foreseen every step in my
life and even future addresses, that I would later live in
years later, in the U.S. At that time I did not know what
these numbers and street names were ones that I had been
visualizing internally. Later on some 10 or 12 years later I
realized it but didn’t somehow allow myself to make a big
deal about what I had been seeing as a child.
Those visions and healing were with me between the ages of 8
and about 14. I do not recall the exact time when it
actually stopped. From that point on I was no longer aware
of what is going on. Having girls at our school at that time
may be one of the factors that perhaps kept away this gift
from my youthful venture at the time.
Moving to the U.S. to go to school when I was 19 was a new
venture in my life. But honestly I did not learn a great
deal of anything at that time and continued to no longer see
addresses, nor end up living at those addresses, as I had
envisioned before. Well, it was all just a mere coincidence
as I recall. I remember noticing that most women I dated
used Tarot cards. I did not bother to judge them, for this
was their hobby. I was making excuses for practically
everyone I knew at that time in my life. I studied and
received my Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and a Master
of Computer Science in the States. But it did not really
help me open up my logical mind. I was very logical and I
needed to question everything in order to make sense of it
and then I finally learned to let it go.
I guess my journey to the U.S., starting from the south to
the Northeast, did not help to open me up to every person in
my life, directly or indirectly, consciously or
unconsciously but it did help to open me up to the spirit
world. This is when I started to investigate a side of me
that I had never bothered to as a child except as a form of
fun or entertainment. Something to keep me busy in my mind
and imagination. Until that point I believed that I just had
a vivid imagination and being a Gemini also helped.
After 7 years in the U.S. I decided to move north. In a way,
I was looking for colder weather. I settled in Montreal and
that is where it all started for me. It started differently
here because I found myself more around people involved in
spirituality. Being more aware of their own personal
direction, to a certain extent, was enough to motivate me to
also want to investigate. Without going into detail on
Easter Sunday in 1992 I was forced to open up and it was
long overdue. It was not by a human being but from my own
soul, and soul friends. It was not an easy start for a
logical type of a person such as the person that I used to
be. I kept an open mind and allowed myself no analytical
interferences. I set up a deadline for myself to decide
whether I would be in or out.
My journey to my conscious awareness life started at Easter
that year. I did meditation for a little while to get me to
consciously learn to communicate with my soul friends on the
other side. I then discovered knowledge about healing, and
understood it, and then all the memories of my childhood
visions came pouring to the surface again. I started
developing my healing abilities for the first time with
Harry Edwards, who introduced himself to me. I was not aware
of anyone by that name, but my teacher Lori was and loaned
me one of Harry’s books to look through. Unfortunately, I
did not read the book at the time, knowing that I had that
actual spirit training me on the healing process and the way
it really should be. I stayed with Mr. Edwards for over six
months. What was interesting was the accuracy of the work of
the spirit that works with you, and the way they had at
shutting up my intellectual convictions. Harry still drops
by from time to time and I am always happy to be surrounded
by his gentle and settled energy.
Thereafter Harry left me; I was introduced to my main
doctor, who is always with me, he goes by the name of
William. It seems I am attracted to a lot of British folks
here, but that is my own particular case. I went through
different trainings with William. William has a very gentle
energy and his main specialization is energy, balancing and
calming someone’s mental agitation. William comes to the
rescue. I learned a lot through the guiding forces within me
at that point. I left Lori and started my own healing
practice and meditation sessions for a year with a friend of
mine Audrey.
My healing was left in the background and I never spoke
about it except at a few gatherings. I never advertised it
but continued to pursue an understanding of Healing
Childhood Experiences, which I had developed over the past
10 years.
In my understanding of life, there are no short cuts and
whatever you do you will always fall back into your old
patterns unless you go directly where it hurts and deal with
it. During that time so many different ways of healing were
being developed but in my opinion much was being done
without understanding that our undealt with lessons and
experiences will always take us back to our own traps. In
order for a healing to take place in life, you need to meet
with your soul level, mental level and then the physical
level.
Your soul level is the origin of your soul and the awareness
of your own blueprint. Does that soul say it is okay to
allow the manifestation of that healing? That is very
important in order for any healing to take place.
Your mental level is basically your state of mind. This
implies the awareness of your conscious and unconscious
habits or patterns.
The physical is the final stage of any manifestation that is
to take place. Once it is clear on the others levels.
I believe the first level, the Soul, is an easy process and
it has already been arranged between the healer and the
patient on different levels other than the physical.
The third level is also simple in that it is the final
manifestation of the systems that allow the understanding
and awareness of our own life.
The second level is where I feel that you would find the
main character of any problem. Our mind, our ego, our pride,
our stubbornness, our rigidity, our religious convictions
and our culture, play a big role in making our healing
process a success or not. In order to receive conscious
awareness, and help someone to be on their path in this
lifetime, you need to understand your own experiences in
this lifetime. You are here to deal with these experiences
and finish them during the span of your lifetime and it
should not go beyond that. Unfortunately for many this
concept does not exist. We may think each experience should
take us a lifetime to finish and my answer to that is what a
waste of lifetimes that would be.
During my training into my own personal work, I ran into
internal clashes within myself between my living work and my
passionate work, and I still have some residue from that
effect. I am still not privileged enough to say that I am
working in what would be considered satisfactory work for my
soul. Seven years after I started on my path of discovery,
and in my year seven of the 9 Year Numerological Cycle, I
decided to pursue a Soul Search and get to the bottom of my
life. My purpose, my patterns, my weaknesses, my strong
points, my own will, my determination and anything I could
find out about my soul, spirit, my experiences in life, and
learn about them. During that year, I was almost in total
isolation from everyone around me. I remember I wrote over
15 journals of memories, junk stuff, patterns, and anything
I could empty out of my sub-conscious. I did that and I lost
about 20 lbs around that time. Remember anything we resist
dealing with will be added to our weight. Your weight is NOT
always as it seems, just from eating, but more inflated
energies are turning and turning inside of you and making
you fatter and fatter in order for you to start looking at
your life. What is the thing that can most annoy us as human
beings? It is about becoming overweight. Healing Childhood
Experiences is a major focus in the healing process for any
individual being.
At this point, without going into many details about my
life, let me summarize a few points on spiritual healing.
What is spiritual healing?
– Healing is the transfer of energy between the world of
Souls and any human being and it is conducted through the
healer.
– The healer is NOT the one who is providing the healing but
just the liaison between the two worlds.
– Dressing up ridiculously does NOT make anyone a better
healer.
– God is aware of the healing that is to take place but does
not interfere with it. It is still the choice of the
individual, the soul and some other factors.
– A healing can take place within minutes or even seconds. A
full hour is not important unless only to justify the charge
for the session.
– Personally, a healing is supposed to be given for free. It
is a gift not to be abused or manipulated in any way, shape
or form.
– A healer is NOT God. A healer is a Human Being. The more
the healer has dealt with his or her own life experiences
the better and more pure the channel he or she will have.
– A healer is NOT God. A healer should NOT allow his or her
EGO to affect the role that a healer is playing on this
plane.
– A patient does NOT have to believe in healing in order for
a healing to take place.
– A healer should never promise or advise against any
medication that a patient may be taking, but should do so in
conjunction with the medical organizations.
– A good healer should bring the awareness on a conscious
and unconscious level to the patient understanding.
– We can pray as much as we want to God, donate as much as
you want to your church or organization but when we do not
take extra steps to do something about our life then no
prayers can solve your problem. Sorry about that!

I had a dream the other night.
I was Supermom. I had it all. Comfortable lifestyle, cute
kids, great husband.
And I felt trapped.
Huh?
In talking with other moms, I learn this feeling is the norm
more than the exception. We want it all, but don’t have our
own personal definition of ‘all’. Which is a problem. If
we’re achieving based on others’ expectations, we’re bound
to come to a time of disappointment. On the other hand,
genuinely discovering our own journey is time-expensive and
not backed by some sort of cosmic guarantee!
A wise woman once said to me that when you hang on so tight
you’re squeezing, things are slipping through your fingers
anyway. Hm.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you just let go?
Let go of…
– perfectionism.
– keeping up.
– being right all the time.
– a particular body image.
– the illusion of total time control.
Now, please hear what I’m NOT saying.
– I’m not saying to stop being responsible.
– I’m not saying to stop planning, goal getting and
achieving.
– And I’m absolutely not saying to stop dreaming!
But after we plan and consequently set our plans in motion,
I think we need to do a reality check.
– Toddlers often don’t potty-train on schedule.
– Teenagers aren’t always interested in bonding during our
appointed ‘quality time’.
– Husbands often have schedules (and ideas) of their own.
– The car rarely breaks down when you DON’T need it.
– Our career planning makes sense on paper, but classes
three nights a week for two years plus fulltime work and
raising a family can choke the life out of anybody!
Letting go is about getting a firm grip on our expectations
and being flexible even when life goes careening out of
control. It’s about understanding that time management is a
tool and a guideline, not a straitjacket. Most importantly,
letting go is about building reality into our life dreams.
For example…
We can pad our schedules with extra time for the daily
adventures of life or we can be continually stressed. Our
choice.
We can DECIDE what success means to each of us individually
and set our sights accordingly, stubbornly refusing to
settle for someone else’s version of happiness.
We can accept that we get 24 hours each day to…make things
happen, laugh a little, love a lot, and learn to know when
to call it a day.
What am I really saying? That we can learn how to focus on
what truly counts for each of us, plan our energies
accordingly, and then enjoy the fruits and near-fruits of
our labors. We may find that our dreams will be a bit
tempered and our actual days will soar with astonishing
accomplishment.
And maybe even…joy.

My grandfather used to speak of the days when people drove
the world. It was a time when people were proud to
contribute and move society and industry forward at full
steam. But, people were proud of themselves! However, before
he died, one of his observations was that “we have come to
mediocre times.”
I was a bit appalled at that statement because, to me, these
times were the epitome of existence! However, over the
years, I began to see what he meant. It is not so much that
our advances are mediocre, but it is the state of humanity
and society that has become mediocre in comparison. Yet, we
don’t see it as such because we live in these times daily
and have no real comparison.
In these times, people lose hope. While I agree that, many
times, circumstances are to blame for a particular
situation; however, we allow such circumstances to overpower
us. We need to take control and decide which circumstances
are to be allowed into our lives.
In today’s environment, there are only a handful of
individuals that move the society forward and so many people
simply follow. Perhaps the difficulties, stresses, and
complications around us have turned many of us into
“mediocre people” in extraordinary times. It depends on how
you look at it all! But, indeed, this is not the case.
When all need a hero, a hero is not to be found. That is
when the best hero we can have is ourselves. That may sound
arrogant, but who would you rather be like: a better you, or
someone else who might be where you think you want to be,
but may have myriad other problems with which you would have
to contend. Deal with your own and become the better you!
We are all extraordinary and we all have something unique
and phenomenal to contribute. However, we must learn to
contribute to ourselves, first, and then consider the
contribution to the world around you. It is how you see and
feel about yourself that reflects upon and influences your
environment and society. Turn inward and exalt the
extraordinary you. Learn that the odd little nuances of life
are there to strengthen you to create “extraordinary times.”

Endings and beginnings. Time for release, celebration, and
setting new intentions. When done consciously, we will
create what it is that we really want for next year.
The Mental De-Tox & Re-New process will help you release and
purge negative thoughts and feelings that belong to events
of the past year, and to free up energy for focusing on what
you truly wish to create in the new year. (You may also
consider doing last year’s process – Wringing Out and
Ringing In. If you would like a copy of this exercise, email
me and I will send it to you.)
The Mental De-Tox & Re-New exercise is a 4 step process
beginning with a review of the past year.
Take Inventory
* Look back through your calendar and your journal to find
the significant events of your year.
* Rate each significant event on a scale of -10, for dismal
or tragic, to +10 for wonderful or fantastic.
Was your year up and down a lot? Were the events mostly
negative or positive? Did you have a particularly difficult
period during the year? Was there a time of many wonderful
things happening?
Release the Lows (Do this a day or two before New Year’s
Eve)
Set aside at least one half day for this exercise. You may
want to do it more than once for more complete release.
1. Using one note card for each Low event, write answers to
the following questions:
a. What regrets, losses, hurts or disappointments remain?
b. Who, or what, do I want/need to forgive?
c. What lesson or hidden blessing is there?
2. After you have written about each event, put your note
cards in your pocket, and go out for a walk in a beautiful
place. Or if you are not able to walk, sit outdoors or by a
window with a view.
3. After walking for 5 minutes, stop, take out a note card,
read it and then say to yourself:
“I release everything about this event and carry only the
lessons forward with me.”
4. Walk for 5 more minutes and then take out another card
and repeat the exercise.
5. Do this until all the cards have been read.
6. After the walk, spend at least 20 minutes in meditation,
prayer, or sitting silently, just allowing yourself to
release with every breath.
7. You may want to burn these note cards as another sign of
release.
Celebrate the Highs (Do This New Year’s Eve)
Time to pat yourself on the back, reward your efforts, and
express gratitude for all the good you have experienced over
the past year.
1. For each High event, write answers to the following on
one note card per event:
a. What did I accomplish that was remarkable?
b. Who or what am I grateful for?
c. What did I learn that I want to take forward?
2. After you have written about each High event, put your
note cards in your pocket, and go out for a walk. Or if you
are not able to walk, sit outdoors or by a window with a
view.
3. After walking 5 minutes of walking , stop, take out a
note card, read it and say to yourself:
“I celebrate everything about this event and gratefully
carry these blessings forward.”
4. Walk for 5 more minutes and then take out another card
and repeat the exercise.
5. Do this until all the cards have been read.
6. After the walk, spend at least 20 minutes in meditation,
prayer, or sitting silently, just allowing yourself to
experience gratitude with every breath.
7. You may want to keep these cards with your journal.
Create the New (Do this New Year’s Day or soon after)
This exercise begins with clearing your thoughts to allow
for greater inspiration.
1. Begin with a 20-30 minute walk in a beautiful and
peaceful place. (Or, sit quietly outdoors or by a window)
2. Prepare to meditate, or sit quietly for a minimum of 20
minutes by reading the following affirmation:
“I allow my mind to become quiet and open.”
3. Meditate and let all thoughts and feelings pass by,
returning to the calm experience of simply breathing.
4. After 20-30 minutes of meditation or sitting quietly, in
this calm and open state, begin to write in your journal.
5. Answer the following questions.
a. What do I really want for my life in 2005?
b. What changes will I make to create a wonderful year?
c. How will I express my authentic self more fully this
year?
6. Write affirmations for each answer and post them where
you can see them every day.
May you have a Mindful and Prosperous New Year!

Daily meditation is the single greatest and easiest practice you can do to relax, restore your energy and love yourself.
To reconnect to your spirit and experience who you truly are, this is the first step, but it will only take you so far.
Many successful people like Oprah Winfrey, Marianne Williamson and Deepak Chopra swear by it. Why? Because there is wisdom, peace and joy in being present with stillness. In today’s world it is almost a radical act to be still, breathe and simply be with yourself without any distractions.
There are many ways to meditate, but here is a simple way to start if you are new to meditation:
– Sit in a quiet space either on a cushion on the floor or in a chair. – Hold your spine straight, your chin down and imagine a string pulling the top center of your head up to the ceiling.
– Then simply focus on your out breath – your breath is your life source; in one sense it’s God’s breath breathing you.
– Your shoulders and your jaw are relaxed.
– Your eyes may be open or closed. If they’re open, hold an open gaze that is not focused on a particular object.
As your mind races notice the thought and allow it to pass like a cloud. There is othing to do. Just simply be.
That’s all you do, but the benefits to your physical and mental health will be tremendous. Unfortunately, those of us who have meditated for over 20 years will tell you, there is a limitation to how far this will take you spiritually.
After 2 or 3 years of meditating there is nowhere to go besides cycling around. Meditation alone leads to calming the mind and blissing out, but not to the spiritual liberation of enlightenment and ascention.
For this you need more advanced techniques in visualization and breathing that focus on your brain and your chakras.
These techniques will allow you be awake and aware at any time. To live in a state of grace where your being experiences love, joy and a sense of equanimity at all times.
Chalanda Sai Ma is having one of her master teachers train interested beings in brain illumination techniques which can move you beyond meditation and towards enlightenment.
Here is a description of this from www.humanityinunity.org :
“Brain illumination is a simple and very powerful set of techniques used to bring light into the brain in order to create an expanding state of awakened consciousness and enlightenment into our subtle body structures.
Cyclic breathing builds and harnesses prana, and is coupled with universal energy directed by our minds through visualization. These powerful energies are directed into the limbic system of our brain. The limbic system is the portion
of our neuro-anatomy that is the seat of consciousness.
By becoming charged with prana and Light (the Supramental Light of God), the limbic system becomes electromagnetically and electrochemically stimulated, awakening the consciousness and expanding awareness into higher states of realization.” For more details on how to do this simple yet highly

Meditation is the first fundamental step of living an inspired life. How can you live your passion before you practice connecting to your source on a consistent basis? You can’t. Get to know your inner self and then you’ll begin to experience the expansion of grace in your outer world.
It has been written that when a human body dies it loses 21 grams of weight. This is thought to be the weight of your soul which is your life force. Imagine living 80 to 100 years in this incarnation and never using any of that time to deepen the most primary relationship in your life – your relationship with your spirit.
Lets face it, you came to this life alone and you’ll be leaving alone – the rest is a gift. So why not meditate and deepen your relationship with the spirit you’ll be taking with you when you leave? Your spirit deserves nothing less!

The Breakfast Meeting!
We all know the scenario! You are sitting over your breakfast at some un-godly hour trying to hide the yawn when someone suggests that it would be a good idea to “introduce ourselves” to the other attendees.
A sort of “elevator pitch”. It means you need to explain what you do in about 1 minute in a polished clear manner.
In the social business world it is important that you can deliver a clear verbal marketing message that can create an important first impression and will attract new clients. Continue reading

Money is the greatest attribute of riches.
It is a universal desire, money is the materialization of riches, the stuff that makes the rest possible.
Are you looking for financial security? For retirement, for education or leisure?
Riches are the overflowing abundance of material possessions – houses, cars, boats, furnishings -everything you ever wanted.
For others, riches come in the form of satisfaction and personal independence. Centuries ago, Horace wrote, “By right means, if you can, but by any means, make money.” Continue reading
